Big Blind Ray is a Sydney based singer/songwriter, steeped in blues and harmonica who brings together The Good Time Rhythm n Blues Band, paying homage to the eclectic and mutl-faceted American Blues singer.
A towering character, with an energetic and masculine approach to traditional blues, Ray's unique style and larger than life presence has Sydney audience's eating out of his hand and praying for more. Inspired by artists such as Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters, Ray was mentored by the legendary Sydney Blues Pianist Bridie King. During that time he simultaneously continued his professional studies in music and arts performance.
Performance highlights include fronting alongside Simon Meli (Widowbirds), C.W. Stoneking, Sarah McCloud (Superjesus), Jeff Martin (Tea Party) and The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. Ray launched his debut L.P. "Big Blind Ray Trio" in September 2013, which debuted at No.4 on The Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart, which occupied regular airplay on community radio stations around Oz.
Big Blind Ray is a force majeure in the Australian Blues scene and is progressively developing his fresh and contemporary roots based command of the harmonica.
Ray is also the founder of the Australian Harmonica Player Network, a not for profit organisation dedicated to raising the profile and diversity of the harmonica in Australia.
