Harmonica Grudge Match Round 2 - Radio Interview - And Hitting the Charts!

24 April, 2014

Over the weekend, Ray was interviewed on Brisbane's most popular community radio station 4ZZZ in the lead up to our next gig which will be (co-incidentally) in BRISBANE!

Here is the link to this strange and marvellous inteview that was broadcast on "FOLK BUDDIES" - be sure to feast your ears on it!

We will be performing at the New Globe Theatre on Sunday April 27. The Broadie Graham Band will be opening to warm you all up. The Jimi Beavis band then draws first blood as he gets his trad Blues Harp stylings up all over our shtick and then the Big Blind Ray Trio will be retaliating with a counter-offensive WMD drop to finish off Harmonica Grudge Match (ROUND 2) in the ONLY way possible - a bloody mess!

It kicks off at 2:30pm and is located at 220 Brunswick St Brisbane and is only $10 at the door!

In other news, we were delighted to be informed that our debut, self titled album has been getting a lot of positive attention with through the blue community radio network and was charted #4 for the month of march on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay chart.

You can view the chart at the following link http://www.bluesbeatradio.com/ozchart.htm

The Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Charts started in January 2010 and are compiled each month from what Independent Radio presenters from around Australia are playing on their shows.

We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all across the country that have been supporting our music by giving us Airtime.

If you are interested in contacting any of the shows and encouraging them to continue to play our music, head over to

You will find a list of all the Oz contributors and info on how to get in touch!

A Big Blind Weekend

We took the folk of Sydney out on a couple of dates over the weekend and showed them a really good time.

12 February, 2014

Happy Hump Day everyone!

It's Wednesday night here at BBRHQ in downtown Sydney and we have been recovering from a stupendously big weekend of music and frivolity.

Saturday Feb 8 we had a HARMONICA GRUDGE MATCH at the Town Hall Hotel in Newtown with our good mate Jimi Beavis and his band. It was an uber fun night of Trad Blues, Dirty Blues, Swampy Blues and HARMONICA BLOOZE! We met a lot of new and current fans, which is always a buzz!

Check out our mate Jimi Beavis and like him on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Jimi.Beavis

The following night we hit Frankie's Pizza By The Slice and had the honours of kicking off the night with a BANG! We had a couple of surprise appearances from local Burlesque performer’s Simona Lisa, who performed during our version of "Hoochie Coochie Man", and Casey Lynn, who worked her thang during our version of R.L Burnsides "Going Down South".

Show Simona some love by giving her the thumbs up at https://www.facebook.com/simonalisaburlesque

And you can become friends with Casey over at https://www.facebook.com/casey.lynn

After us was Frank Sultana and The Sinister Kids. It was the first time we had played with them and the first time seeing them live for me. It was a real treat. As Karl put it so eloquently, "They've got everything man. A Buxom, Bubbly Girl, A stoner Girl, A Hipster, A Pretty Boy, A New Guy and an Old Bloke Steering the Ship." They really are a motley crew who are making some kick ass swampy Blues Music!

Check 'em out and like them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FrankSultanaAndTheSinisterKids

Topping off the Night were Brother and Sister Heavy Swamp Rock Duo, Barefoot Alley. We played with them last year at Frankie's and we were thrilled to share the stage again. Hayden really has his shit together managing Guitar, Loops, Vox and Keys whilst Sophie lays the smack down on some Heavy, Groovin' Rock beats.

Go and like these cats too! https://www.facebook.com/barefootalleyaus

We will be playing with Frank Sultana and the Sinister Kids and Barefoot Alley up in Brisbane on March 15 for the Mojo Burning Festival at the New Globe Theatre alongside a bunch of other super talented Blues, Stoner Rock bands!

Check out the line up at http://www.mojoburning.com/bands.html

Tickets are $30. You can get hard copy tickets through us directly buy shooting an Email to info@bigblindray.com with the subject "I AM READY TO BURRRRRN" - Just let us know how many tickets you'd like, shoot us a contact number and where you'd like them sent to. We'll get in touch to organise payment arrangements and then get them to your hot little hands! $5 from each ticket sold goes back to us, so if you or your mates are looking for a great night out and want to show us some love at the same time, just drop us a line!

Lastly, we were fortunate enough to get some footage captured from our performance of "Going Down South", with the spectacular Casey Lynn working her Magic on the Audience! So, Ladies and Gentlemen, grab your favourite beverage, sit back and enjoy the show.

Much love,

BBR
